What are the i-STEM Libraries?

The i-STEM Libraries are a collection of STEM tools, kits, equipment and other resources available for Idaho educators to check out and use in their classrooms for free. With the launch of the new Online Catalog, educators will be able to search and browse items available at their nearest library location, make a check-out request and access curriculum and other resources all in one convenient place!

Who can check out items from the i-STEM Libraries?

All Idaho educators, including classroom teachers and aids, after-school care providers, early childhood educators, camp and extracurricular program leaders and homeschool collaboratives are eligible to borrow items from the i-STEM Libraries.

Is there a cost to check out items?

Checking out items from the i-STEM Libraries is free to all Idaho educators. Certain items may require additional consumables or supplies that you need to procure on your own; however in most cases, the hosting library will provide the necessary materials.(See individual item descriptions for more info.)

What happens if a library item is lost or broken?

Policies regarding lost or damaged library items are determined by the hosting library — check with your local Library Manager.

What kind of items can I check out of the libraries?

Hydropower kits, coding robots, 3D printers, base 10 blocks, microscopes, algebra tiles, portable weather stations, GPS units and much much more! Items vary by location. Browse the Online Catalog to see what’s available in your region.

Where are the i-STEM Libraries located?

i-STEM Library collections are housed on six college and university campuses across the state. Some locations may offer delivery and shipment options for certain items; please contact the Library Manager in your area to inquire about these options.

The i-STEM Libraries are a project of i-STEM, Idaho’s premier professional development opportunity for PK-12 formal and informal educators. For more information about the i-STEM Institutes and how you can participate, visit our i-STEM page.
