CS Teacher Endorsement Competitive Grant
PURPOSE:
Per Idaho Code 33-1633, funding for Computer Science can go towards distributing grants to public school districts and public charter schools that may be used to provide incentives for teachers to pursue training in computer science or earn a computer science endorsement. However, Idaho STEM Action Center has recognized that this is a difficult process to implement on a district/school basis. We are looking to partner with an Idaho state university to offer scholarships to educators to go through a graduate level program to be able to add the computer science teaching endorsement to their current teaching certificate. If awarded, these funds must primarily go toward scholarships to Idaho public educators. An expectation of the educators upon receiving the scholarship funds is that they continue to teach in the state of Idaho for an additional 3 years upon completion of their last course, with the hope that they will be able to eventually teach computer science course work to their K-12 students.
Selection Criteria:
Priority selection will go to an application that has majority of the funds impacting K-12 public educators.
