Returning to the Idaho Workforce Development Council for my third summer reminded me that some of the most meaningful work happens long before a student ever walks through a career fair or meets with a school counselor. Behind every resource, partnership, and opportunity is a team asking thoughtful questions about how to better serve Idaho students, families, and communities.

This summer, I designed a collection of interactive, ready-to-use career exploration activities for career fairs and outreach events across the state. The goal was to spark conversations about careers, education and training pathways, financial aid, and Idaho’s workforce needs through engaging, student-friendly experiences. Watching an idea grow into practical tools that others can immediately use was incredibly rewarding.

One of my biggest takeaways was realizing how much intentional work happens behind the scenes. Whether developing new resources, reviewing outreach strategies, or strengthening partnerships, each effort helps create better experiences for students. It was a meaningful reminder that some of the greatest impact comes from work most people never see.

As I return back to a new school year this fall, I’ll bring back an even greater appreciation for the collaboration that connects education, workforce, and community partners. I’m grateful to the Idaho STEM Action Center and the Workforce Development Council for another summer of learning, creating, and contributing to work that will continue supporting students and families across Idaho.
