I was tasked with seeing the entire farming process from beginning to end in a small capacity or another. I worked to learn about the planting process and how it is determined what to plant and how government does various items to encourage or hinder farmers from planting specific products to help the prices and supply. I accomplished being able to understand what all truly goes into the agriculture sector and the impact that it has in Idaho. At times it seems as if we forget that we still are an agriculture state and it is still one of our largest commodities and this helped me to understand what all agriculture effects. This will impact my teaching style as I now work to make connections to government at the local, state and national level and how they are doing more to impact agriculture in both a positive and negative way then I knew before the externship.
