Dee Winegar at Western States CAT
Working for Western States CAT this summer has been very educational. My principal task was to ensure that their customer database had accurate customer records. Why?
• Accurate customer records help connect the customer to CAT services
• Accurate customer records allow Western States CAT to support their customers
• Accurate customer data is necessary to run digital services and analytics
I learned many new terms. One of them is “Trifecta.” This is achieved when Western States CAT can:
• identify the customer
• know how to reach them
• Know what equipment they own or operate.
I was given customer lists and asked to ensure that each customer had valid contact information and to identify any errors, such as duplicate records. I used the Internet to find phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses, and updated customer information in their AXProd system. I was able to practice some Microsoft Excel skills, such as using filters and conditional formatting, and learn how Western States CAT utilizes customer data to increase customer satisfaction and sales. This is information that I can integrate into my teaching immediately.
Some things that impressed me this summer as I worked at Western States CAT:
• Collaboration, teamwork, and willingness to help each other. This supports innovation.
• Social Responsibility. There is a community page on their website that shows their commitment to their employees and the community. They offer employees 8 hours of paid time off per calendar year to volunteer for a qualified non-profit organization.
• Oh – And I loved the break room. Plenty of Ice Water and Hot Chocolate (See attached image)
