eCYBERMISSION is a web-based science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competition for students in grades six through nine. Students are challenged to explore how STEM works in their world while working as a team to solve problems in their community. Teams can be mixed grades and are consisted of two to four students. The teams compete virtually in a state competition in March 2021. Top teams then advance to their virtual regional competitions in April 2021 to compete for a spot at the in-person National Judging & Educational Event in June 2021. Student prizes are awarded at the state, regional, and national levels by grade level. eCYBERMISSION focuses on building scientific inquiry and engineering design process skills in 6-9th grade students.
eCYBERMISSION will judge the projects, and the top three teams per grade level in Idaho will be eligible for prize money to help sustain their program. Due to the health and safety guidelines, there will be no physical showcases. Instead, teams will submit an optional video presentation of their projects to win prizes. The overall winning team will receive $300 per student in saving accounts, second place will receive $250 per student, and third place will receive $200 per student. Teams will be able to view and learn from videos submitted by others, starting important conversations about accomplishment and subject materials.
- $650 stipend (upon program completion) for advising at least one team during the eCYBERMISSION competition
- $200 per team (up to three teams) reimbursements towards materials for student projects
*Educators advising the winning state teams that place 1st, 2nd or 3rd will receive monetary awards (1st place - $750, 2nd place - $500, 3rd place - $250). Monetary awards will be administered through their school or organization for STEM supplies in their teaching environment to sustain the eCYBERMISSION program.
